F.A.Q.

Sprouting the seed paper label, caring for your candle, ingredients and where our pots come from: here is everything we are asked most often.

  1. Fill the pot with potting compost.
  2. Moisten the paper and bury it about 1 cm below the surface.
  3. Keep the soil moist and at a temperature above 18°C.
  4. Give the young shoots plenty of sunlight and water regularly.
  5. Let the magic happen!

Chamomile, Cooper's purslane, alyssum and poppy.

We recommend burning the candle for 1 to 2 hours at a time, each time letting the whole surface melt into a ‘pool’. This way the fragrance spreads at its best and the candle burns evenly right to the end. Ideally, trim the wick to about 1 cm above the surface before each lighting.

OALI is an acronym of two words: OAOA, which means happiness in Māori, and LIFE. We launched OALI in 2015 to share ecological alternatives that meet both everyone's wish for happiness and our shared desire to strengthen and multiply our bonds with the living world. We are convinced that our well-being is closely linked to our relationship with nature.

We make every candle ourselves, by hand, in our workshops in Belgium (Huy) and France. In fact, we do almost everything ourselves: our website, our labels, our accounts… We value our autonomy and independence.

The seed paper labels are made and printed in France. They are made of recycled paper, organic seeds and water-based ink. To make them, the paper maker mixes the paper pulp with wildflower seeds and uses a printer specially adapted to the texture of the paper.

We carefully select every ingredient so that it poses no risk to your health or ours. The wax we use is plant-based (soy wax), the wicks are natural cotton and all fragrances are certified free from CMR substances (carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction) and phthalates (petroleum derivatives). Our seed paper labels are fully biodegradable: the paper is recycled, the seeds are guaranteed GMO-free and the printing ink is a special water-based ink.

The pots of the COCO and MAUI collections are entirely handmade by a Moroccan cooperative, and the pots of the CHIBCHAS collection are made by Colombian artisans and imported directly by a Belgian partner.
